Introduction parcel

What is the Introduction Parcel ?

The ‘introduction parcel’ is loosely inspired by the NASA Voyager* and Pioneer missions to interstellar space. Sent in the ‘70s and still traveling toward the sun, these missions contain golden records and a plaque, which include information, sounds and images of life on Earth, of humans, of different cultures and environments.
This information is for potential living beings in space who might encounter Voyager and/ or Pioneer.

'Introduction Parcel’: a digital file containing:
a) A photograph of each student taken by the students themselves or a person of their choice at a chosen location. Each photograph should present something of the student’s personality.                      b) A statement of up to 150 words by each person, introducing himself or herself (which might include interests, passions, activities, cultural backgrounds, favourite books, music etc.).                         c) Three photographs of places significant to the group. (This will be discussed in more detail between Mikhail and each group - the point is to encourage students to think of spaces where they feel there is the potential for them to express themselves and the potential for them to have an impact on their surroundings).                                                                                                                                                           d) One existing music video that inspires the group and is communally chosen.                                       e) The summary of the group responses to the project theme workshopped with Mikhail.                     f) A video of up to 1 min (could be a video collage) of a collective action, which each group does (as a kind of greeting).                                                                                                                                                        g) Up to 1min audio file (could be an audio collage); an audio profile of their surroundings (workshopped with Mikhail).                                                                                                                                        All Introduction Parcels should be sent before the first transnational group visit!
